Winter Holiday Greetings and News

December 2014
Holiday Greetings to everyone!

Tony Sweet and I just completed our collaborative workshop here in Santa Fe and all I can say is WOW… Our time in the field and the studio was highly productive as Tony and I demonstrated our personal techniques for expanding your creativity from image capture to conversion and enhancement.

Tony, skilled photo maven that he be, inspired the group with his innovative ‘painting with light’ techniques during our sunset shoot in Abiquiu.  We all joined in and had a blast just after sunset, as he instructed us well into the darkness.  Included in our location shoots was Tent Rocks National Monument, Lake Abiquiu and a morning at the La Estancia Peruvian horse ranch.

To quote Tony…..
“Photographing horses is a whole new ball game for me, but watching Bobbie’s re-interpretation of the subject was most exciting to me. Photographing groups of running stallions with the D810 and a 70-200mm lens, 1/3 sec, I panned the subjects for some great effects. In post the images were Optimized using layer masks, Topaz Impression, and Nik Color Efex Pro.”

Below are a few of Bobbie’s signature creative processing techniques demonstrated at the workshop.  The images were recreated in Topaz IMPRESSION:

Due to the overwhelming success of this workshop, Tony Sweet and I are offering another workshop November 5-9th, 2015!  One of the highlights will be a day at the incredible Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, a place of remarkable geological formations – cone-shaped rock formations that are the result of volcanic eruptions that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago, worn down over the millennia by geologic processes that shape natural landscapes.

Additionally we are offering participants the option to join us for a one-day extension to photograph the migrating birds at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge is a world-renowned location where some 377 species of birds have been observed on the refuge since 1940. Late November to late February is the best time for large numbers of birds, typically over 10,000 Sandhill Cranes and over 40,000 Ross’s and Snow Geese.

You will enjoy learning how to reinvent your raw images and achieve amazing results with the images you take in these unique wilderness locations.

Email me to be put on the interest list. Registration will be up soon. bobbiegoodrich @ mac.com

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS 2015

May 11-17, 2015      NATIVE HORSES of the CAMARGUE  (Camargue, France)
Join me for a fantastic experience photographing the spirited white horses of the Camargue in Southern France. This is my sixth consecutive tour and each one is more exciting than the previous, as you can see by participants’ comments below:

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful second (!) trip with you to see the wonderful, sweet horses of the Camargue.  Not only did I get gizillion more truly unique photographs, but, I got to see the horses in some different contexts than the first trip: groups running across the an incredible French sunset, the special experience of being in the front row to photograph an evening theatrical production of Camargue horses “dancing” with Flamenco dancers, and a re-creation of a scene from the movie “Crin Blanc” – a boy riding bareback on the beach.  The experience of traveling with you and sharing our love of horses and photography is unequaled.”  Your forever student:  –Sarah Corbin

“I’m still feeling the after-glow of our amazing time together! I’m so happy I was able to meet you and shoot with you!. You made me feel so comfortable and were so helpful. Your artistic technique is so intuitive and beautiful. I can’t wait to have the time to play with all of the tools and techniques you showed us!”  –Susan L.

The-Contenders…Carol & I made it back to Indianapolis without problems. We have plenty of images to work on. Carol took 2,100 and I have 2,400. I’ve worked up my favorite and attached it to this. I’m calling it “The Contenders.” I always learn something from you, and Saintes Maries de la Mer (Camargue) was no exception. Thanks for all that you do for we novices, and we are looking forward to the next time we can integrate a workshop into our schedule!”  –Bill Howard
